Details

In the world of country music, there's a legend named Merle Haggard—a man whose life was etched with rebellion, a touch of outlaw spirit, and a voice that could penetrate the very depths of your soul. Merle's journey, like his music, was a reflection of real life: prison stints, triumphs, heartaches, and a relentless spirit. He was that magnetic, ruggedly handsome figure whose lyrics didn't just sing about life; they sang your life. And then there was me, an artist navigating the labyrinth of creativity and emotions, caught in a storm of my own. In a world that often felt like it didn't quite understand the artistic soul, I resonated with Merle's struggle—the highs and lows of life, love, and art. The act of creating, like Merle's music, was both a beacon and a tempest. It wasn't just a journey; it was an odyssey. One day, a commission arrived—a request to paint Merle Haggard. The canvas was a blank canvas, much like the uncharted territories of our own lives. It was a tribute to a passionate Merle fan, but it became something more—a lifeline in the tempest. As I dipped my brush into colors, I thought about Merle, the rebel with a cause, the outlaw hero whose life story was etched on his weathered face. I thought of his songs—the ballads that wove tales of real life, of relationships, of failures, and heartaches. Merle had a gift for making those stories feel like our own, as if he'd plucked them from our hearts and put them to melody. With each stroke, I poured my own emotions into the canvas, realizing that my struggles, like Merle's, were part of the artistic journey. The darkness that often enveloped me was, in its own peculiar way, a source of inspiration. It was the fertile soil from which creativity sprouted, the shadows that gave depth to the light. As the portrait took shape, Merle's piercing gaze and rugged features emerged, capturing not just a likeness but the very essence of the man. His charisma, his defiance, his unwavering commitment to authenticity—all of it flowed from my brush onto the canvas. The finished piece was more than just a portrait; it was a tribute to the shared experiences of being an artist and a human being. It was a nod to the tumultuous journey of those who dared to be different, who found solace in the quiet corners of their minds, and who sometimes felt like square pegs in a world of round holes. For me, for Merle, for all the high-strung, artsy souls who danced to their own peculiar rhythms, the realization came like a warm embrace. Being different wasn't a curse; it was a blessing. The darkness, the solitude, the struggles—they were the threads that wove the tapestry of our creativity. In the end, as I gazed at the completed masterpiece, I understood that Merle's music had transcended mere songs; it was a lifeline. It was a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there was beauty and meaning to be found. And as I packaged the painting, destined for the home of a devoted Merle fan, I knew it carried not only Merle's spirit but a piece of my own journey—a testament to the wonderful, odd, and extraordinary path we walk as artists. - Marnie Miller AAIT

Rag Cotton Paper prints are on Super Premium 100% cotton rag cotton paper ( the kind that lasts for 100s of years) This paper is GORGEOUS y'all. It has a soft, subtle texture and it just really looks super expensive... because it is super expensive.
The paper prints are limited edition signed and numbered collector's pieces ( hand signed by the artist in the studio). That makes them more valuable some day, we hope and pray.
The size of the print is the actual paper size. Theres a 1 inch white border around the art and the original signature and numbers are signed in the white portion at the bottom of the art.
These are not framed. It's just the fine art rag cotton paper print, signed and numbered rolled up and placed in a protective shipping tube.

Canvas prints are printed on 100% Cotton Museum Quality Canvas ( the same stuff you'd find in a fancy smancy art gallery... wait, maybe I am a fancy smancy art gallery?)
Rolled canvas prints - That just means that the wooden part doesn't come with it. It's just the canvas print rolled up and shipped in a tube like the paper one's. This is a perfect print of the
original art with the edges extended a full 2.5 inches all the way around. That gives you plenty of extra for stretching your own canvas on either the skinny .75 thickness stretcher bars or the 1.5" gallery wrapped thickness. ( See the photo above on the listing to explain the differences between options.)
Stretched canvas prints - That just means that the wooden part, the framework behind the canvas, is indeed included. Stretched canvas is ready to hang right out of the box. .75 is the skinnier frame that you'd want if you're going to add a decorative frame around the canvas. You know, like a pretty, stylish, cool or funky frame. Anyway, if you want to frame your stretched canvas, go with the skinnier .75 option. If you want the gallery wrapped look, you'll want to choose the 1.5 thickness, for that thicker and bulkier side profile fine art gallery look. Both of these have finished edges all the way around so they look great right out of the box. Both are ready to hang, with or without framing. ( See the photo above on the listing to explain the differences between options.) Same with the canvas prints, no frames or decorative room stuff. Just the artwork.

I'm the artist, Marnie Miller, and I promise you this; I'm right here in the slap dab middle of it every single day and not a print leaves this studio that I didn't touch, inspect and verify clarity, color and the integrity of the artwork, MYSELF. Art is not what I do, it's who I am. This my dream and my life. I want you to LOVE your art and treat me like a friend. That's my quest.

I do take custom commissions from time to time. If you have an interesting idea or would like to talk about commissioning original art, I'm all ears. Lets talk about it. I LOVE new ideas and people... so people with new ideas are like biscuits and gravy!!! Fantastic.

P.S. "You know all those things you've always wanted to go do?... You should totally go do them!" - Marnie Miller, AAIT
